Kim & Chris shared a day of sunshine and love on May 28th 2011. Both ceremony and reception was at Gatherings in Virgil, NY.

Inspired by their dream to own a family farm Kim and Chris asked A Pink Door to give them a feel of rustic home. Things from the garden (basil, rosemary, and strawberries) greeted the guest as they were offered bottled water from a vintage red wagon (not pictured).

Surrounded by the mountains of green trees and a back drop of tiny rustic wood cabins. Kim and Chris said their vows of love to each other under an arch draped with white blossom garland, framed with willow branches, and on each side of the couple two vintage whiskey barrels host lilac bushes named of course The Kim Lilac (not pictured).

Family and friends were escorted to their tables by a little packet of seeds. Each table was centered with a match fruit, flower, or veggie to match the guest's packets.

Each centerpiece was labeled with a recreation of a vintage produce ad with Mr. and Mrs. Kelchner's name hidden in each design. Inside the box sat lovely tulips growing from moss and wildflowers picked and sat in vintage Ball Mason jars found in the Grooms basement.

Tasty cupcakes by Gingersnap Bakery with flavors of mint chocolate, orange cream, and chocolate raspberry. The little treats sat on silver trays and stacked crates. As dainty dragonflies gently laid on the cloud of whipped frosting.

Kim and Chris was such a delight to work with. It was magical to see them together....but what was so special was the love that they shared for their children,family, and friends.

You're only queen for a day....

Tomorrow there is going to be magic in the air! The Royal wedding between sweet Kate Middleton and his royal handsomeness Prince William will take the world to a place where dreams are made of this Friday. A Pink Door will be watching!

In honor of this day we would like to share some tips on how to feel like royalty on your special day!

1. Get your Beauty Sleep!

It is recommended that you get 8 hours a day! Plan out your week of so that you can stay focus. Try not to have too many late nights.

2. Eat what you love!

I tell all my brides that you must eat something the day of your wedding. In order to get through the day you have to build up your energy. If you are staying at a hotel, b&b, or a home it is great to pack a few of your favorite morning treats to eat. Like:
Fresh fruit

Breads (try the stretch bread at Pascals)
Spreads (Fresh Jams or Nutella)
Fresh Juice, Favorite coffee blend, or tea (Wegmans fresh squeezed juice, Your blend of coffee from Cafe Kubal or Smiths, and a good blend of tea from Teavana)

3. Pamper yourself like a queen!

4. Something borrowed, something blue, and something from you!

It is always to get a gift from someone special on your wedding day. But I find that it is even nicer to buy yourself a little something special to make you truly feel like Royalty.

Every girl dreams of being that perfect princess on her wedding day but sometimes the budget gets in the way. When I was dreaming of my wedding as a bride I wanted to have a dress designed by Issac Mizrahi and jewelry by Vera Wang but there was no designer budget in sight. I took the time to find something special made by each designer (a pearl bracelet by Issac and a fragrance by Vera). It was those little gifts to myself that made me feel like a queen.

Make sure you take the time to know that if you take care of yourself, pamper yourself, and love yourself on your wedding day and everyday you are sure to be true royalty!

Cocktail of the Week:::The Harry Winston.

It is almost time for Valentine's Day. So I would like to share one of my personal favs!

:::The Harry Winston:::

Harry Winston was a renowned jeweler who was known for his diamonds. He even donated the Hope Diamond to The Smithsonian in the 50's. We all know diamonds are a girls best friend...so we named this drink after the daddy of diamonds. Traditionally this cocktail is called "Midnight" but here at A Pink Door we like to add a little twist for the ones who are in love. You will need:::

Goldschlager::: A Cinnamon Schnapps known for its gold flakes floating in it.

You will need 1/2 an oz.

Dry Champagne::: Above are two of our favorites. Veuve Clicquot from France ($45 a bottle) and Great Western made in Upstate NY ($9 a bottle) Both are really tasty!

*Side note if you every go on a wine tour in the spring/summer months stop by Pleasant Valley Wine Co. That is where they make Great Western. They have a stunning tasting room.

Edible Glitter Flakes & Simple Syrup::: Edible glitter is a the rage in the cake world. We are going to use it to rim our glass. It comes in a array of colors. Check your local Craft stores, markets, or here to purchase some. The simple syrup will help the glitter to stick to the glass. Here is a Simple Syrup Recipe.

1. Place a bit of your simple syrup on a plate.

2. On a separate plate sprinkle some of your edible glitter. You don't need much it goes a long way. I like the white or silver glitter because it reminds my of diamonds. But have fun choose whatever color you like!

3. Take your favorite Champagne flute and rim it first in the simple syrup and then dip it in your glitter. I like to do all the glasses at once (if having a party) so that it can dry a bit before serving.

4. Take your bottle of Goldschlager and give it a good shake. This will get all the gold pieces moving around. We want to make sure that everyone has a bit of gold in their cocktail.

5. Pour 1/2oz. of the Goldschlager in the glass. You might have to shake it a few times to keep the gold moving.

6. Top it off with your favorite champagne.

Now watch all the gold flex do a lovely dance in the bubbles!

This is a spicy drink that will tickle any glamorous gals tongue for sure.

With the wedding season nipping at our heels...I had a bit of a lovey dovey moment thinking about the magical first dances I will see in 2011!
Picking a first dance song can be as easy as 123 for most couples. Whether it be their first date song, prom last dance, the song you sing to each other in the car, or that one song on the wonderful mix tape (CD) you made for your sweetheart (This was the case for me and Trav...he shared with me Ben Folds for the first time with the song Luckiest.)

It's a Sock Monkey Birthday.....

Today's birthday parties for the wee ones have come down to the cookie cutter party plates, plastic toys stuffed in a over priced pinata, and the grocery store selection of vanilla, chocolate or marble topped with one of the two Bobs (The Builder or Square Pants) or something pink for the girls (not that I mind pink..wink wink).

Sock Monkey is a lovable character from the late 1800s. Made from the Rockford sock this cuddly primate is known for its cream and brown knit and it's big red lips. With this character you are able to have a fun crafty day with your little guest making moments that will last a lifetime!

Here are a few decor, craft, and foodie ideas to make your birthday babes smile:

Instead of buying prepackaged invitations add a personal touch. I made this one in Photoshop. It is always nice to have something for the baby book!

When having a party for little ones it is always good to have or two set just for them. One with crafts such as coloring books and building blocks. The second with fun healthy treats. What is lovely about the tablecloth above is that you can wash it and reuse it on the play time table or your child's picnic table.

Looking fabu in your wedding dress is a must on the wedding day. But we all know it is hard to turn away that candy bar from the vending machine or that cold pizza calling you in the fridge from last nights Superbowl. Here are some fun ways to take off a few pounds and have fun doing it:

1. Ask your wedding party to join you in your workout. Taking a walk,running, or putting on the old Jane Fonda work out tapes with the gals can be fun and inspiring. It is all about the GIRL POWER!!!

2. Set up realistic goals. Exercising for your wedding day is not only good for taking some of the weight of but can give your great energy, keep you healthy, and happy. So set goals that you are comfortable with. Don't set a goal for a size 2 when you are a 12 and the wedding is in a month.Because at the end of the day it is a long term go to be healthy and happy for you and your new partner.

3. Work out with your life partner. Who better to set goals with than the person you are taking the leap with. Find romantic things to do together to take off some of the extra lbs. Dancing the Salsa can sure spice up the night along with shedding the pounds. Romantic Walks can help for sure! take a walk down memory lane with some of your old date spots or a neighborhood that you two lived in. while keeping healthy you share your memories.

4. If you are just under your goal don't sweat it after all as long as you are happy,healthy,humble,and hot you are truly on your way to being the queen of your wedding day. Stay Positive and Stay true to you!
